WESTERN CAPE COAST IS SEMIGRATION HOT SPOT
MOSSEL BAY IS IN THE TOP SPOT
Lightstone figures shows that last year 6406 households from other regions bought property in the Western Cape. Mossel Bay is topping the list of SA towns with the highest influx of residents.
According to Peter Mare, Lew Sotheby’s International Principal in Mossel Bay and Still Bay, the town became popular for its wonderful lifestyle and close proximity to George and the airport, and is also an excellent investment opportunity.
The price for an average 3-bed home with a double garage was around R1.8 M in 2021. Demand for properties remains strong and property values continue to grow.
There is a wide choice of properties at the top end of the market (R5 M to R10 M price range), and also in the R10 M plus price range. Fixer-uppers are still available for under R2 M but are becoming scarce. Freehold homes, 3 or more bedrooms, are in the R2.5 M to R3.8 M price range.
Mossel Bay has one of the best run municipalities, and was named South Africa’s most financially sustainable municipality by the independent rating agency Ratings Afrika, in 2021.
